The Preferred Manor

45 South Main Street

New Berlin NY 13411

The Preferred Manor, also known as the Horace O. Moss house, one of only two stone houses in the village, is a magnificent 19th century American home which was built in 1831.  The 1800's kitchen and servants quarters are still in use.  The Manor was a stop on the Underground Railroad.  The Preferred Mutual Insurance Company purchased the Manor in 1946.  On May 17, 1974, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.  Although the home has been modernized with plumbing, central heating and other modern conveniences, the original architecture and basic construction remain largely as it was.  The Manor is now used as a guest house for overnight visitors to the New Berlin area.   The Manor contains five guest rooms
